ISSUES THAT MATTER TO YOU

Generally speaking, we move to or stay in a town because we enjoy the quality of life it has to offer. Zebulon has a favorable history of offering a unique experience and quality of life we all have come to enjoy and expect. Any issues that affect our quality of life are of the greatest importance.

As the current stewards of this town, we have the responsibility to care and plan for Zebulon now as well as to ensure future Zebulon is even stronger. Our current government, business leaders, and the like are doing a very solid job navigating Zebulon through our current waters. But, as with anything, there’s always room to improve.

One of my goals is to get as many in the community to help build on our town’s existing strengths while minimizing the potential drawbacks of its evolution. I believe together we can capitalize on our unique draw to people, businesses, and corporations without compromising the southern small town charm and atmosphere.

Of all the concerns I’ve heard thus far, there’s one at the crux of all others – infrastructure, and rightfully so – it is the framework that makes our community run.

I believe we can only have, maintain, or improve our quality of life with adequate infrastructure. We must have confidence:

  • in our roads to not only ensure our residents and visitors can safely navigate around town, but to also ensure our safety services can safely, effectively, and efficiently tend to all emergencies
  • that our water is safe to drink
  • that our waste water and garbage services can accommodate current and planned growth
  • that our roads can and will be able to adequately withstand the current and planned growth.

A few years ago, the town conducted a citizen, staff, and Board of Commissions study in an effort to proactively address and plan for the town’s evolution. The results of the study created the town’s strategic plan entitled Zebulon 2030. This plan identifies three main areas of focus – vibrant downtown, small town life, and growing smart. If you haven’t had the opportunity to look at Zebulon 2030, I recommend checking it out and letting your thoughts be known.

I am fully committed to ensuring Zebulon’s future gets stronger with each day and I’m asking you to join me in this commitment. Please feel free to use this website and any of my social media to communicate any issues that matter to you.
